Shiroma / Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
Why I chose this costume:
After playing Chocobo Tales and loving it, I found out that a second one was in the making to be released soon in Japan. A few of the artwork designs had been posted on the internet, so I found a good one of Shiroma and set to work!
Shiroma (or Shirma as she’s called in the English version of the games) is a white mage who loves (and often raises) chocobos. Since my creation of my own life-sized chocobo, I found myself looking for any character that loved the giant birds as much as I do–and thus I had to cosplay Shiroma.
How I made this costume:
I based the design loosely on her new look for Chocobo Tales 2. I used thin flannel for the entire dress and red triangles, which all had to be double-folded before stitching as the fabric tended to fray. I used a thick satin for the bow and the largest, red buttons I could find for the accessories on the top. I sewed the costume in two pieces, adding pleats to the skirt to add some movement. The leggings were store bought and the wig took about an hour to cut, and style. I added a green boa wrapped along wire for the hairpiece that Shiroma wears in the second game. This was also my third time making a hood and I must say this one came out the best so far!
Thoughts on this costume:
Without a back-shot of her costume available yet, I think I mocked the design fairly well! I’ll have to pull this one out to wear again soon–it was also extremely comfortable.
