Snoopy / Peanuts
- Comics & Movies
Why I chose this costume:
My friends wanted to make some cute outfits for Dragon Con and the Peanuts gang came to mind. After debating for a while on who I could possibly be for this epic group, I jumped at the chance to be the missing character–Snoopy! In the Peanuts comics and animated shows and movies, Snoopy is a main part of the cast. He is the ying to Charlie Brown’s yang and can be super silly, or just a plain, lazy dog. He’s always been my favorite and I was thrilled to bring him to life at Dragon Con!
How I made this costume:
I didn’t have time to make a complete mascot outfit for Snoopy before the convention, so with the groups’ permission I made a girly Snoopy instead. My goal was easy–make Snoopy recognizable, but the added challenge was the fact that I had to make him look ok even though I was going to feminize his design. I bought a leotard, skirt and wig off of Amazon and made a collar, tail, ears and his classic back spot from polar fleece. I sewed clips to the ears so they could clip into the wig and added a pin back to the tail so it could be pinned in place. The back spot was tacked in place and fixed with a bit of fabric tape while getting dressed. The collar was made from red leather and a Velcro closure. White tights and shoes completed the look, plus some black eyeliner on my nose to make his classic black dog nose.
Thoughts on this costume:
Snoopy and the Peanuts gang was really well-received! The people at Dragon Con loved our group so much that we had a lot of trouble moving from one spot to the next. I bought a cute Woodstock stuffed animal off of Amazon and brought him with me to complete the group, and I loved hearing everyone reminiscing about the show with all of us. It made me so happy to become my favorite character of all time.
