Why I chose this costume:

Lydia is an outcasted goth and a girl who can summon and speak to ghosts. She runs around with her undead friend Beetlejuice in the animated series and often visits The Neitherworld to visit ghosts, monsters, and zombies.

How I made this costume:

Lydia’s character is more fleshed out in the movie, however, I chose to do her animated design because it was suggested to me by my cosplay friend Jelfish. I already owned the black dress, tights and shoes, so I simply focused on making the arm warmers, cape, and wig. The arm warmers are made out of 4-way stretch spandex. The cape is made of red poly-cotton and lined with purple 4-way stretch spandex. I hand-painted the black web design on the cape (I actually had to make this cape twice, due to painting the web on upside-down the first time I created it). The entire cape pulls on over my head and is light and comfortable to wear. The wig is a cheap flapper wig, which I combed out and pulled up into a high ponytail. The purple and pink hair holder is an empty, fabric-covered, toilet paper roll. I sewed the hair wrap into the wig to keep it in position while I wore it and completed the look with lots of makeup.

Thoughts on this costume:

Such a comfy costume to wear and make. I truly enjoyed wearing it and the cape is by far my favorite part.
