Queen Elsa / Disney: Frozen
- Comics & Movies
Why I chose this costume:
Princess Elsa is the oldest of two sisters from Arendalle. She takes the title of Queen after her parents pass and she is of age. Once crowned, she and her sister Anna get into an argument and Queen Elsa flees her kingdom after locking it in eternal winter. Queen Elsa then creates an ice castle and dawns this beautiful dress as a way to break the chains that she felt bound her for years.
How I made this costume:
This was made as a princess birthday request about two weeks before the party date. As I didn’t have time to make it from scratch, ebay became my friend for each piece of this costume. I bought a prom dress and altered the look by removing four layers of tulle from the skirt and adding a slit to the front right of the dress. I bought the teal shirt to wear under the dress and altered the sleeves to wrap around my middle fingers. I added snowflakes to the wig I bought that arrived pre-styled. The only piece I did by hand was her ice cape which I cut from some great fabric I found and attached to the dress.
Thoughts on this costume:
Queen Elsa was the buzz of the party and all the kids had a great time singing with me and pulling me all over the house. They also all posed with me for photos which was super cute. They were terribly disappointed when I said I needed to return to Arendalle, but overall the memories made were super worth it.
The birthday party was for Princess Anna in these photos.
