Mint / Candy Land
- Original Designs and Other
Why I chose this costume:
Within the game of Candy Land, Mint is the court jester figure. He is a tall, peppermint-striped character who lives in the Candycane Forest and is the Candycane “woodcutter”.
When my friends opted to make the Candy Land costumes for a Dragon Con 2012, I let them know that I would gladly take photos, but didn’t have time to complete a costume for their group. The same group wore these costumes at Katsucon 2014, with another cosplayer dressed as a feminized version of Mint. This costume was made by Shiva (who was Queen Frosting in the group) and she brought it with her to Dragon Con 2014 where I played the role of Mint to complete their group.
How I made this costume:
I did not make this costume, I only supplied the wig. My favorite part to wear was the striped shirt, which was actually a second pair of striped tights with the crotch and feet cut out and worn as a shirt! It was a genius idea and I loved how it looked, even without the costume over it.
Thoughts on this costume:
Mint is a fun character to cosplay. Not only do the colors of red, white and pink look cute together, the entire cosplay was super comfortable and easy recognizable in our group. I would absolutely wear this again with my friends–we had so much fun!
