Fetch Walker, Curdun Cay / InFAMOUS First Light
- Video Games
Why I chose this costume:
Fetch ended up with her own game as her badass nature stole the show and hearts of players. InFAMOUS First Light is a glimpse at Fetch’s backstory–her arrival in Seattle, her plans with her brother and exploring her neon powers. As much as I was already tied to this character, I just had to cosplay every outfit she had–starting with her Curdun Cay scrubs. You can see my first iteration of Fetch’s look from her first appearance in InFAMOUS Second Son here.
For some context on her character: Fetch has had a rough life, as the minute her powers made themselves known her parents became afraid of her and called authorities to have her taken away. Her older brother, Brent, grabs their coats and they ran. They ended up crossing the country from New Jersey to Seattle, Washington. During their running away, Brent introduced Fetch to drugs and she was quickly hooked, becoming a junkie at a young age. After a trauma-inducing event, Fetch ditches the drugs and swears revenge on every drug dealer she can find.
How I made this costume:
I wanted to make sure this outfit was warm and also comfortable as I was planning to wear it during winter. I bought bright orange, fleece-lined leggings, a plain heather gray hoodie and a pair of sneakers off Amazon. I also bought a brown, long haired wig. I hand-painted the “D.U.P. Detainee” (Defense of Unified Protection) logo on the back of the hoodie, the stripes down the arms, the hem of the pockets and Fetch’s Curdun Cay number on the front of the hoodie. While that was drying, I hand-painted the sneakers to have the correct colors, which took three hours and quickly became my favorite part of this cosplay. I also cut and styled the wig to become shorter in length, with stylized bangs/fringe and enough hair to create Fetch’s single bun.
Thoughts on this costume:
This outfit wasn’t as highly recognized, but still definitely pointed out in a crowd. It’s a super simple look and comfortable to wear. I also got to try my hand at editing myself into a still from the game and I love how it turned out!
