Shadow Lass / Legion of Super-Heroes
- Comics & Movies
Why I chose this costume:
Shiva had always dreamed of having a full Legion of Super-Heroes group and thought Dragon Con would be the best place to debut it. After throwing together a list of characters for us all to chose from, I leapt at Shadow Lass and got started planning how I was going to go full blue for this one.
How I made this costume:
The boots were ones I had at home. I bought a simple black leotard off Amazon and two sets of blue tights from WeLoveColors.com (highly recommend them). I used black stretch fabric to create the cape and straps across the chest of the leotard. I used one set of tights for my legs and the second set I cut the crotch out of and used as a makeshift crop top to cover my chest and arms. I bought matching blue face paint and used that (with setting spray) to cover my face, neck and hands. The wig was bought online as well as the white hair scarf.
Thoughts on this costume:
I think I could have spent forever working on the blue face paint to get it to be the correct color and stay in place but the heat of the late summer in Atlanta, Georgia really had it melting off of me. It was fine though–I was able to color correct with Photoshop and that helped for the final images shown here. I definitely snuck in some unedited, just for giggles. Overall, the costume was comfortable and we all participated in the parade this year and I was on TV! It was wild and my friends still bring that up. We had a fun time being super-heroes from the 1970’s!
