Din / The Legend of Zelda
- Video Games
Why I chose this costume:
Din is the holder of the Power piece of the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda series. She is one of the three Golden Goddesses and a key part of the games, even if her character isn’t shown as more than a statue.
My friends wore the Golden Goddesses dresses at Katsucon 2014. When Din’s cosplayer wasn’t able to attend Dragon Con 2014, they asked if I’d like to fill in for the missing Goddess. I was happy to do it!
How I made this costume:
I did not make this costume, only supplied the shoes. The dress was handmade (and hand-dyed) by Elly Star Cosplay. She redesigned the sashes and Triforce pieces for Dragon Con. I was so excited to be able to pay tribute to a series of games that has inspired me for years! We were able to find a few Links (and a Zelda too) to get photos with at the convention. Oddly enough, the sun came out at all the right photo moments, so our Triforce could shine.
Thoughts on this costume:
After Dragon Con 2014, I was named the official Din for this group and we planned a photo shoot that would be epic. Sketch joined us in his Assassin’s Creed x The Legend of Zelda crossover cosplay (which is stunning up close) and we all met up at a castle in Massachusetts. This time I had brought some new shoes and some cute golden leg wraps, as well as some bangles and accessories. Shiva created our hair accessories, and Elly Star had revised our dresses to now include draped gold wraps as well. After this shoot I was able to take this dress home and I cherish it.
