Fetch Walker, Flashback / InFAMOUS First Light
- Video Games
Why I chose this costume:
Fetch ended up with her own game as her badass nature stole the show and hearts of players. InFAMOUS First Light is a glimpse at Fetch’s backstory–her arrival in Seattle, her plans with her brother and exploring her neon powers. As much as I was already tied to this character, I just had to cosplay every outfit she had. This is her main outfit from the game, or her flashback outfit as I call it, since this game is entirely a flashback/prequel to her appearance in InFAMOUS Second Son.
For some context on her character: Fetch has had a rough life, as the minute her powers made themselves known her parents became afraid of her and called authorities to have her taken away. Her older brother, Brent, grabs their coats and they ran. They ended up crossing the country from New Jersey to Seattle, Washington. During their running away, Brent introduced Fetch to drugs and she was quickly hooked, becoming a junkie at a young age. After a trauma-inducing event, Fetch ditches the drugs and swears revenge on every drug dealer she can find.
How I made this costume:
I looked through a lot of photo mode screenshots for this one. Like the jacket in Second Son, I knew this jacket was a huge focus point for Fetch’s design. I bought the socks, silver nose ring, bandana, bomber jacket, black and gray tank tops, shorts and belt off of Amazon. The wig is recycled from my Second Son outfit, and the boots and accessories I already owned. The black tank top is shared with my Curdun Cay version of Fetch as well. I added the yellow stripes on the gray tank top using a mix of acrylic and fabric paint, then I sliced holes into the shirt using small sewing sheers. I painted purple-pink patches onto her shorts. I’m actually wearing two belts to get the look of the separate one that hangs down her backside.
The jacket is my favorite part of this version–it has 15 patches that I hand-drew and hand-sewed into place. I hand-painted the silent skull design on the back of the jacket, as well as the stars. I sewed leather strips with studs on them for the back of the jacket, painted the muted fuchsia designs by hand and the black circle design found on the right front side. I added the shoulder studs and leather straps by hand (lots of hand-sewing through leather) and then added the button flap over the zipper complete with snap buttons that I inserted into place also by hand. I made the hood from scratch and attached it to the inside collar with hidden buttons.
Thoughts on this costume:
This version is so much fun to wear! The colors and details really play into what I like best about costume design, plus they help set Fetch’s character apart from other characters out there. This version is the most popular one from InFAMOUS First Light and I’m happy to have added it to my line up.
