Komatsu "Hachi" Nana / NANA

  • Anime & Manga

Why I chose this costume:

Komatsu Nana (nicknamed Hachiko or Hachi by Osaki Nana) is a fun, girly-girl who lived with Osaki Nana and supports her 100%. She is a hard worker and strives to be happy every day. Hachi is very much like my sister and I thought it would be a pleasant surprise if I made her this cosplay as a compliment to my Nana one.

How I made this costume:

I used a blue t-shirt which I cut the sleeves off and created the v-neck neckline. I paint splattered the shirt in bleach, creating the splattered light blue look I needed. When it was dry, I sewed new sleeves, a better neckline and added the base of the shirt in hot pink material. The letters “S-E-V-E-N” were hand-cut from the hot pink material and glued to the shirt.

The skirt was created by several strips of light pink cotton material. I hand pleated the strips and sewed them to a skirt base made from spandex white fabric that you cannot see. I added a zipper to the side to make it easy to get on and off.

The scarf and leg warmers are made from grey fabric and each pink spot was hand cut and glued on by hand. The placement is as accurate to the original art book drawing as I could get. The shoes were altered with brushed out pom-poms of light pink which were sewed on. I bought the tights and black undershirt, my sister provided the black socks.

Hachi does like her coordinating jewelry! I hand-made lovely pink heart earrings from beads and used a key charm for the end of her chain belt.

Thoughts on this costume:

The cosplay itself can be worn as individual pieces and my sister was shocked and excited when she finally was able to open her gift! We took fun photos together which you can see in my Osaki Nana gallery.
