Why I chose this costume:

Nagisa is a first-year student at Iwatobi High School and he is very spirited and not afraid to speak his mind. He comes up with the idea to start a swim club at Iwatobi High and is nominated as treasurer for the club. He also creates and adores the club’s penguin mascot, Iwatobi-chan. Nagisa is known for his swimming style of the breaststroke. I just loved how adorable Nagisa was in the series and I wanted to create something cute that matched his personality, so this cosplay was it.

How I made this costume:

I bought the swim trunks, goggles and wig online. The wig needed to some styling, but it was already cut to match the strands of Nagisa’s locks.

I made the hoodie featuring Iwatobi-chan with my own pattern. The hoodie is made from polar fleece and took less than a day to construct. I added a small beak at the top of the hood along with Iwatobi-chan’s star eyes and feathers that stick out as seen in the opening of the show. I also modified the hoodie to add a penguin tail to the back as well. The hoodie is super comfortable and warm, not to mention adorable.

Thoughts on this costume:

One day I’d love to do a FREE! cosplay photo shoot with a full group, but I had a lot of fun splashing in a pool by myself for theses photos. Nagisa is such an easy-going guy and his love of Iwatobi-chan is contagious.
